Not one to defend this woman, BUT!

Watch this “interview” from ABC News. Palin makes some good points. She is not whining about the double standards, though they exist, and her examples, why aren’t we talking about the men’s wardrobe? why aren’t the men asked how they plan to handle raising a family and running the country? why aren’t the men asked about missing their children on the campaign trail? are valid. yes. they are. As is her assertion that if she isn’t tough enough to handle the criticism of the campaign, she certainly shouldn’t be running for Vice President. Also, could they have gotten a bigger “womany” woman to interview her? I think Palin comes off as more serious and sober and level-headed than the “newsperson” interviewing her. She is also not the one talking about a presidential run in 2012. The media is.

Of course, she still loses points on the following. While I believe perhaps prominent Republicans who dismiss her as unqualified should have the balls to say that shit to her face, I don’t think they have to sit down for a conversation because of her “distorted” record. She also is retarded claiming that $150,000 was NOT the cost of clothes for her family and herself while immediately saying she hasn’t seen the bill. What? Then you have no idea what the fuck that shit cost, so you can’t deny the cost in the first place, dumb ass.

Recurring…

For the 2nd night in a row, I’ve had a dream that on the campaign trail, John McCain fell ill and was taken to a hospital with little chance given to his recovery. In my dream, Jimmy Kimmel often refers to it as the family being told he’s in “Condition Dead,” and while I’d like to think that people would have more sympathy about the situation if it did arise, it makes perfect sense to me that Jimmy Kimmel would just be crude about it.

I’m also very concerned that I keep having this dream.

What Fucking Century Do I Live In?!

Obama should win just to piss off these types of assholes, if for no other reason, of which there are many.

Two white supremacists allegedly plotted to go on a national killing spree, shooting and decapitating black people and ultimately targeting Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, federal authorities said Monday.

In all, the two men whom officials describe as neo-Nazi skinheads planned to kill 88 people — 14 by beheading, according to documents unsealed in U.S. District Court in Jackson, Tenn. The numbers 88 and 14 are symbolic in the white supremacist community.

The spree, which initially targeted an unidentified predominantly African-American school, was to end with the two men driving toward Obama, “shooting at him from the windows,” the court documents show.

“Both individuals stated they would dress in all white tuxedos and wear top hats during the assassination attempt,” the court complaint states. “Both individuals further stated they knew they would and were willing to die during this attempt.”Sheriffs’ deputies in Crockett County, Tenn., arrested the two suspects — Daniel Cowart, 20, of Bells, Tenn., and Paul Schlesselman 18, of Helena-West Helena, Ark. — Oct. 22 on unspecified charges. “Once we arrested the defendants and suspected they had violated federal law, we immediately contacted federal authorities,” said Crockett County Sheriff Troy Klyce.

The two were charged by federal authorities Monday with possessing an unregistered firearm, conspiring to steal firearms from a federally licensed gun dealer, and threatening a candidate for president.

Cowart and Schlesselman are being held without bond. Agents seized a rifle, a sawed-off shotgun and three pistols from the men when they were arrested. Authorities alleged the two men were preparing to break into a gun shop to steal more.

What fucking douchebags!

Senator Ted Stevens (R-AL) GUILTY OF CORRUPTION

Stevens, 84, was convicted of all the felony charges he faced of lying about free home renovations and other gifts from a wealthy oil contractor. Jurors began deliberating last week.

The senator showed no emotion as the jury foreman said “guilty” seven times. After the verdicts, Stevens sat in his chair and stared at the ceiling as attorney Brendan Sullivan put his arm around him.

Stevens faces up to five years in prison on each count when he is sentenced, but under federal guidelines he is likely to receive much less prison time, if any. The judge originally scheduled sentencing for Jan. 26 but then changed his mind and did not immediately set a date.

Wow, another guilty Republican. I can’t even feign being shocked at this point. Especially after Miss “Hope for the GOP,” also from Alaska, was found guilty of abusing her power as Governor less than a month ago.

I would, however, like to thank Mr. Stevens for once again shining a light on the hypocrisy of your party, and especially your party in Alaska.

You know you’re a nerd when…

…you know why this picture is so damn cool.

$150,000 Lipstick on a pig?

The Republican National Committee has spent more than $150,000 to clothe and accessorize vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin and her family since her surprise pick by John McCain in late August.

According to financial disclosure records, the accessorizing began in early September and included bills from Saks Fifth Avenue in St. Louis and New York for a combined $49,425.74.

The records also document a couple of big-time shopping trips to Neiman Marcus in Minneapolis, including one $75,062.63 spree in early September.

The RNC also spent $4,716.49 on hair and makeup through September after reporting no such costs in August.

The cash expenditures immediately raised questions among campaign finance experts about their legality under the Federal Election Commission’s long-standing advisory opinions on using campaign cash to purchase items for personal use.

“With all of the important issues facing the country right now, it’s remarkable that we’re spending time talking about pantsuits and blouses. It was always the intent that the clothing go to a charitable purpose after the campaign,” said McCain-Palin spokesperson Tracey Schmitt.

I like Don Cheadle, but…

LOS ANGELES – Terrence Howard says was surprised to learn that Don Cheadle would replace him in “Iron Man 2.”

“It was the surprise of a lifetime,” the actor and musician told National Public Radio on Tuesday. “There was no explanation, (the contract) just up and vanished.”

Howard said he read news reports that money was the issue, saying the contracts he signs apparently “aren’t worth the paper that they’re printed on sometimes.”

Cheadle assumes the role of James Rhodes, a character that becomes Iron Man’s sidekick War Machine in the comics, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Robert Downey Jr. will reprise his role as weapons mogul Tony Stark.

Yes, let’s put her in the White House!

“I have voted along with the vast majority of Alaskans who had the opportunity to vote to amend our Constitution defining marriage as between one man and one woman. I wish on a federal level that’s where we would go. I don’t support gay marriage,” Palin said.
